Tan on the podium in Singapore!

Singaporean race driver, Yuey Tan took 3rd place in category, racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia over the Singapore F1 weekend.

“It was an amazing weekend in Singapore,” said a very happy Tan. “I am very happy for the team, and also to our team boss Andy McElrea for leading us this far!” To be honest, I had some personal troubles over the race weekend, so to come out of this with a result is something special!”

Tan was strong during practice and qualifying finishing every session within the top 3 in category with Saturday putting the car on the sharp end of the category.

Qualifying saw the Singaporean saw a shaky start to the session, Tan ending up 2nd in category with his fastest lap at the end of qualifying. However, things were not quite as peachy from this point onwards. The usual contenders such as Perfetti, Tjia, Shen and Terry surrounded Tan on the grid.

The PCCA Singapore GP Weekend round only had 1 race, as opposed to the more traditional 2 races that are normally run on our weekends so qualifying was of utmost importance. Race 1 was run on Sunday late afternoon whereby the live TV feed coincidentally started with Tan’s on-board camera.

Fittingly, Tan made the worse start of his 2012 season, going off the line and getting passed by 3 cars into the first corner. Though after T1, Tan put his head down as he started to charge after the drivers with great success. The Singaporean race driver kept good speed all throughout the race, managing to cross the chequered flag in 3rd place in category just behind Hong Kong’ Francis Tjia and Italian driver, Egidio Perfetti. During the 2012 Singapore GP, the race driver also took roles on LIVE TV reporting on the Formula 1 for MediaCorp, as well as taking questions on the Singapore Karting Championship. In addition, more good news as it was announced that Singapore renewed their details for another five years of Formula1 in Singapore. “The best news yet for Singapore. Many more years of Motorsport in Singapore which is just great for the country!” “The Singapore GP was one of the best races we have been involved in over the last four seasons, so very memorable stuff! I am really happy for the effort everyone put in and for my supporters and team that they still believe.”
