Dorr McElrea Team kicks off season at F1

The first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be taking place this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit.
The Porsche Carrera Cup series follows the Formula One as a support race, regional Carrera Cup’s supporting the F1 cars depending on which region they are in. In the Asian region, the Porsche series supports the Formula One at Sepang, Shanghai and Singapore.

“It’s a fantastic thing to be part of the Formula 1 weekend,” said the excited Driver. “It is simply a fantastic atmosphere and so many people from Singapore including our ASN boys and the Singapore GP are up there with us. There are other Singaporeans driving in the Malaysia Super series such as Weng in his McLaren and Vig in his Viewqwest Radical so watch out for them! There will be a lot of national support at the Sepang circuit.”
Tan’s fifth season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia kicks off at the 15 turn Sepang International Circuit, a round that has never seen him on the podium in his career since 2009.

“We had a bit of bad luck on our last visit to Sepang. So we will have nothing to lose this time round. I’m up there to have fun and maximise our weekend with our new overall package, which I think is going to be strong in 2013.”
Since 2012, there have been new additions to the Carrera Cup field including New Zeland ace Earl Bamber, PCCA guest & Formula One test driver Fairuz Fauzy in compliment to one of the strongest Carrera Cup fields in the world.

“It’s mad to go up against some of these guys. It’s why I chose this series. It has the best drivers and the highest level competition in Asia. That is pretty cool to give yourself as a driver to know how quick you really are.”
