Tan vows to be competitive in Shanghai

Dorr McElrea Racing race driver, Yuey Tan is in Shanghai F1 GP this weekend to drive in the second round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

After a decent start to the season that saw Tan’s car damaged on the first lap and having to nurse the car home to the chequered flag, he hopes for a better weekend at the Shanghai GP.

“We made some good gains with the car and the driving in Sepang,” said the upbeat Singaporean. “If we keep on doing what we are doing, I am certain that we can do a good performance with the car we’ve got! Just a pity that Da Silva hit us and the car didn’t work right but we are confident of developing the car over the weekend more than we ever have before.”

Tan and the Dorr McElrea Racing Team will be making their 10th visit to the Porsche Carrera Cup on the Shanghai International Circuit, thisweekend being a support race to the Formula 1 World Championships.

“We have good experience here,” continued the seasoned Cup driver. “With the telemetry data we have from the past, and a great team and engineering capability with McElrea Racing and Minal, we are feeling confident of a good result this weekend.”

However, Tan’s last visit to the Shanghai GP at Formula One ended in a first lap incident on T10 with fellow compatriot, Openroad Racing’s Francis Tjia. “Yep, it didn’t end quite so well last time we were here! That means things can only get better from here!”

Tan currently sits 4th in the class B standings, and will be trying to improve his standing this weekend in Shanghai.
