Tan contests Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race with Team NZ

Singaporean driver, Yuey Tan will line up at the 2014 Merdeka 12 hour endurance race at Sepang with Will Bamber, Graeme Dowsett and John Curran, representing Team NZ as they compete in Asia’s most gruelling race.

The 2014 edition of the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race (MMER) will take place from August 28 to August 31, 2014 where it will start at midday on August 29th and finish at midnight on the 30th. There will be four categories that will categorise race entrants: GT Class, GTC, Sports Production and Touring Production categories. Team NZ will be competing in the GTC category with a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car.

“Thank you to Team NZ for giving me the opportunity to compete in my second Merdeka Endurance Race. It’s with a team of drivers that are great blokes and a lot of fun to be around. The car is also a race car that I drove from 2010 to 2013 in Carrera Cup so to be reacquainted with the 997 is something I am looking forward to.”

The 2014 MMER will also have a great media reach this season with the 12 hour race set to be broadcasted on the popular Motors TV and world famous Fox Sports channels. While Fox Sports was previously ESPN and the premiere sports channel throughout Asia, Motors TV is the High Speed Channel that broadcasts the worlds sports events and is transmitted in 42 countries and 25 million homes on cable TV throughout the world.

“It’s great that the Merdeka Endurance Race has stepped it up in 2014 with the media coverage. It is undoubtedly the most prestigious endurance race of this region and with the best drivers and teams in the world lining up at this endurance event, it is only right that it goes the next step with a mega media distribution deal.”

Watch Team NZ in action as they take on the 2014 Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race. Pre-race event testing will commence on Monday August 25th and 26th, 2014.
