Yuey Tan prepared for his 7th Singapore GP!

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia driver Yuey Tan is ready to go as he hits the Marina Bay Circuit for the seventh time, this coming weekend.
“The Singapore Grand Prix is by far the biggest and most epic motor racing event, by a country mile in Asia,” said the Singaporean driver. “To race here for a seventh time is seven times more than I ever thought possible so to be here after all these years is really fantastic, and I am well aware of how lucky we are to be racing at such a challenging and gruelling circuit!” Tan first made his Singapore GP debut in 2009, and has raced every edition of his home grand prix since managing to score three podium finishes in class B, including a race win in 2014.

“Yeah its been a great run at the Marina Bay Circuit. It is my home circuit though unfortunately, the Singaporeans do not get a home advantage as the circuit is only set up for the Formula One race weekend. Though it still is home and it means a great deal to me to be racing in this fantastic event.” “Last years victory was sweet and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting it. Alif Hamdan, one of my best mates in the Carrera Cup actually beat me too the chequered flag, overtaking me two laps from the end but he was disqualified and handed me the win. It was an unfortunate way to take the trophy but it was a win nevertheless. We met up immediately after the race at my apartment in Singapore and had a drink. He’s a good guy and we had a good race!” This year, there will be modifications made to the Marina Bay Circuit, just before Anderson Bridge which is the narrowest part of Formula One on the 2015 calendar. “There will be a change made to the circuit this year, perhaps making the lap a few tenths quicker but no major issues I think.” Currently, Singapore’s Tan currently leads the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia class B championship by 17 points, over Canada’s Wayne Shen with Thailand’s Vuitthikorn a further seven points adrift. With four races to go, Tan is looking to become Singapore’s first champion since the beginning of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in 2003.

“Of course there is a solid mathematical possibility that I could win the title this season,” commented Tan, “Though we cannot forget that there are still four races to go in the season and anything can happen in motor racing. The Marina Bay Circuit does take more prisoners than most so Im going to have to be careful to make sure I see the chequered flag every time I start a race from now till the end of the season. The Porsche Carrera Cup have two grand prix weekends left of the 2015 season in Singapore this coming weekend and Shanghai next month.
