NOVU SPONSORS SINGAPOREAN RACE CAR DRIVER YUEY TAN FOR 2018 PORSCHE MOBIL 1 SUPERCUP

March 17 2018 – NOVU Medical Aesthetic Clinic, part of Novena Global Lifecare Group, announced today its sponsorship of Singaporean veteran driver, Yuey Tan in the 2018 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup races in Europe.

Yuey Tan is the first Singaporean racing driver to participate in a full season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the pinnacle of the Porsche one-make series. Each round of this fantastic Porsche championship is held during the Formula 1 World Championships European legs in some of the most famous racing venues in the world.

Mr Tan, 35, began his racing career in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in 2008. He has since completed 117 International Grand Prix starts and has six wins across nine seasons and 71 podium finishes under his belt in the Pro-Am category. He was also the first Singaporean to win Championship Title in the Pro-Am category in 2015, as well as runner up during the 2014 and 2017 season. In 2014, Tan also took victory in the GTC category of the Sepang 12 hour in Kuala Lumper with Team NZ.

NOVU’s sponsorship is aligned with the company’s strategy to expand into Europe where it has opened its first clinic in Madrid last year in a joint-venture with a local partner. A second clinic will open in Barcelona in February. NOVU plans to use Spain as a base to expand to Latin America which shares a similar language and culture.

NOVU is the flagship brand of Novena Global Lifecare Group, one of Asia’s largest healthcare and medical aesthetic groups, and the only medical aesthetic chain in Singapore to have its own R&D and manufacturing facilities in Korea. NOVU currently has over 50 clinics in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Korea and Spain.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Mr Nelson Loh, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Novena Global Lifecare Group, said: “We are delighted to support Yuey on his quest to conquer Europe, the ultimate in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup championship. He is the epitome of discipline, determination and derring-do, values we hold dear as we chart our international business expansion.”

Mr Loh added that he and his cousin, Terence, who is also the Co-Founder and Group CEO of Novena Global Lifecare, are both passionate about sports. He recently completed the Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship in Sydney while Terence is training to be a competitive stand up paddler.

Both cousins are active in the local sporting community and have set up a dedicated sports scholarship fund to help underprivileged athletes achieve their sporting dreams. They are the sole sponsor of the Singapore Muay Thai National Team and their scholarship fund helps to get poor kids off the streets, as well as nurture talents like Bryan Tee who won the World Muay Thai Games Silver in 2016.

Mr Loh said: “We have always been keen to work with athletes to help them achieve their fullest potential as we believe those who have the ability to do well should not be limited by their lack of financial resources.”

He shared that the NOVU brand is keen to promote a healthy and active lifestyle and has recently launched its Active series of skincare products, designed for sportsmen and consumers on the move.

The two cousins also founded the DORR McElrea Racing Team which has finished numerous times on the podium in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, the Asian edition of the Porsche one make series, where Tan only scored his second podium while they worked together and continued to finish well with seventeen podium finishes over the three seasons in the Pro Am category, including a victory at Asia’s crown jewel on the streets of Marina Bay at the Singapore GP.

“We have always worked fantastically well together and I am glad that we are back again for the 2018 season,” said Tan. “I am super pumped to be doing a season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup with the Novu group to go to some of the best racing venues on earth to race with some of the best drivers in the Porsche Motorsport world is going to be pretty cool. Though dreams are achieved with big focus and hard work and we are firmly focused on getting underway for a successful rookie season in Europe!”

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, now in its 25th year, is a global phenomenon that features around 100,000 live spectators at every race event. The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup spans across some of the most legendary racing venues in the world including the dazzling streets of Monte Carlo in Monaco, England’s spiritual home of motorsport at Silverstone, the aura of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the Italian challenges of the serious high speeds of Monza in Italy, and a newly added race venue in Mexico City. The race kicks off on 25 April this year in Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.

For the past 25 years, a feature of the Supercup is that all drivers and teams compete on equal terms with racing cars, tyres and fuel absolutely identical. Yuey and the other drivers will be driving the new generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991) model race car which is the most powerful car in the history of the Supercup.
