A new challenge with Spirit-Z Racing
As well as racing with Team Jebsen in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, I have taken a new challenge on in the shape of the China GT Championships.
A few facts about the China GT at the moment. It is still very much in its infancy. It’s still under big development whereby regultions need to be ironed out and decisions need to be made objectively. Though even at this stage, it is by far the largest championship in Asia today.
In 2016, the season started with a grid of local drivers whereby the grid was spread apart quickly massively. Fast forward a year later to the start of the China GT Championships season and the Chinese teams have recruited 9 of the Porsche Carrera Cup drivers past and present in the shape of myself, Chris van der Drift, Vutthikorn, Max Jousse, Will Bamber, Li Chao, Zhang Da Sheng, Martin Ragginger and Alex Imperatori. It is certain to be one exciting championship!
During the 2017 season, I’ll be driving with the Spirit-Z Team behind the wheel of the NISMO GT-R GT3 car, alongside race ace Andre Couto. It’s a fantastic driving pairing and the team is new, so we will be working hard to get up to speed to make sure we are competitive throughout the season.
